The real difference
The two are closer to partners than rivals.

Sierra's integrations guide documents a two-way sync of leads, agents, tags and messages with Follow Up Boss.

What agents complain about
The top complaint about Follow Up Boss is "The phone app is slower than the desktop CRM"; about Sierra Interactive, "Error messages in the app".
Follow Up Boss: "Follow up boss as a browser and system is incredible. The app is atrociously slow." (App Store review, August 2026)
Sierra Interactive: "I have to deal with constant error messages popping up across the bottom and interfering with use." (App Store review, May 2026)
AI
Sierra's AI texting is a $199 add-on; FUB AI is included and drafts for you.
Sierra's Lead Engage texts, qualifies and re-engages leads by itself for $199 a month, on Essential and Growth only. FUB AI drafts replies, suggests tasks and summarizes calls for you to send, at no extra cost.
Using both, or switching
Sierra's phone app outscores Follow Up Boss's: 4.8 against 4.3 on iPhone.
Sierra's iPhone app holds 4.8 from 1,730 ratings against 4.3 from 387 for Follow Up Boss. Sierra has only 3 reviews on G2, too few to compare desktop scores; Follow Up Boss holds 4.6 on G2 from 118.
What neither one does
Whichever you pick, somebody still has to do the work the CRM reminds you about.
FUB AI drafts and suggests inside Follow Up Boss. You still open the app, find the lead and press send, and deal work like the lender's letter or the inspection date is not what the AI is built for.
Sierra captures the lead and Lead Engage can text it. Once the lead becomes a client, the showings, the lender and the dates still run through you.
Sifta works beside either one. It connects to your Gmail or Outlook and your calendar and runs by text.
It drafts replies to portal leads in your voice with real open times and texts them to you to approve, tracks the deal dates it finds in your email, joins the group text with your client to book showings, pulls comps on any address, and briefs you each morning.
It is not a CRM, it does not make phone calls, and it does not replace Follow Up Boss or Sierra Interactive. If your CRM gives you an email-in address, Sifta can copy the lead replies it sends there, so your CRM can log them. Sifta Pro is $199 a month.
