Meta Muse vs Instinct: Which Personal AI Agent Fits a Real Estate Agent?

Meta Muse is open to anyone in the US and Canada, free to start, with paid plans at $20 and $100 a month. Instinct is free but invite-only. Both read Gmail and both make calls in early access. Neither names a CRM, MLS or real estate feature. Here is how they compare for an agent's day.

The short version

Muse is the one you can use today; Instinct is the one people are waiting in line for.

Both are general personal agents. You message them like a person, they remember what matters to you, and they act across your apps.

The differences that matter to an agent are access, email provider, and how each one handles sending on your behalf.

What each one is

Muse is Meta's consumer agent, launched Sept 8, and Instinct is a startup's assistant that surfaced publicly in late August.

Muse runs on Meta's Muse Spark model. Meta says it has its own computer with a browser, keeps working after you close the app, and comes back when it needs approval, like before it sends an email or makes a purchase.

It also remembers details you mention once. Apptopia counted 2.8 million installs worldwide in its first 12 days.

Instinct is made by Spear Street Technology, doing business as Instinct, and led by Noah Shinn, a former research scientist at Sierra. Its homepage says: "You can text or call it."

Since Sept 8 each Instinct has its own email address. The Information reported more than 100,000 users, and the company has raised about $350 million.

Where an agent would feel the difference

For a real estate agent, the gaps show up in five places: your email provider, sending rules, your CRM, group threads and getting in at all.

The privacy part, side by side

Both train on your conversations by default, both let you opt out, and neither states how long it keeps your data.

Meta says Muse conversations are cleaned of key personal details before training, and you can switch that off in settings. Meta restricts staff access to your data by policy, but says that does not prevent access when needed to support, secure or operate the service.

A version with encryption Meta can't open is planned for later this year.

Instinct trains on your information by default and lets you opt out in settings. The opt-out works only going forward, and data flagged for safety review can still be used.

Its policy says it does not use Google Workspace data, including Gmail and Calendar, to train models or serve ads. Disconnecting an app does not delete what Instinct already collected; deleting is a separate step.

Tips if you try either one

Start small, keep client data out of week one, and turn off training before you connect a work inbox.

  1. 01Turn off training first. In Muse: Settings, then Data controls, then "Help improve our AI models." In Instinct: app.instinct.com/settings.
  2. 02Give it a read-only job first, like a summary of today's unread email, before anything that sends.
  3. 03Keep approvals on for anything that goes to a client.
  4. 04Connect a personal Gmail before your business inbox, and watch what it does for a week.
  5. 05Keep loan documents, ID numbers and lockbox codes out of both.
  6. 06Check your brokerage's AI policy before you connect a work account.

Where Sifta fits

Muse and Instinct are built to run a person's life; Sifta is built to run a real estate agent's business.

If what you want is leads answered, clients remembered and deadlines chased, a general agent leaves the setup to you. Sifta starts with the job already defined.

Sifta is an AI assistant built only for real estate agents. Here is what it does:

  • Connects to Gmail or Outlook and your calendar, and runs by text from the Messages app on your phone.
  • Drafts the reply to each portal lead in your voice, with real open times, and texts it to you to approve.
  • Tracks the deal dates it finds in your email.
  • Pulls comps on any address you text it.
  • Books showings from the group text with your client.
  • Briefs you every morning.

It does not make phone calls and it is not a CRM. Sifta Pro is $199 a month.

If Sifta doesn't catch something worth more than the price in week one, you don't pay.

The bottom line

If you want a personal agent today, Muse is the one you can get; if you have an Instinct invite and live in Gmail, it is worth a careful try.

Neither one says it answers real estate leads, texts your clients from your number, or connects to your CRM or MLS. Both change weekly: Muse added calls, a Mac app and Canada within ten days of launch. Check back before you decide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Meta Muse better than Instinct?

For most agents, Muse is easier to start with because anyone in the US or Canada can download it, and it supports Outlook. Instinct is invite-only, and for email and calendar it names only Google apps. Neither is built for real estate work.

Can I get Instinct without an invite?

Not right now. Instinct is in an invite-only beta for US phone numbers. Current users can invite others, and you can join the waitlist at app.instinct.com.

Is Meta Muse free?

Muse has a free tier. The paid plans are Power at $20 a month and Maximum at $100 a month, and signing up requires a payment card.

Can Muse or Instinct answer my real estate leads?

Neither company says so. Both can read Gmail and draft replies, but neither names Zillow, Realtor.com, a CRM or an MLS. Answering leads in your voice with your real availability is not something either one describes.

Do Muse and Instinct work in iMessage?

Instinct users report using it through iMessage and WhatsApp. Muse works in its own app, on the web, inside WhatsApp and in a Mac app that can read your Messages with permission. One Inc. columnist says it read his without permission; Meta disputes that.
