The New Siri for Real Estate Agents: What It Can Do With Your Texts, Gmail and Calendar

Siri AI, Apple's rebuilt Siri, arrived in beta with iOS 27 on Sept 14. It finds things across your texts, Apple Mail and Calendar, drafts email and moves appointments by voice. It needs an iPhone 15 Pro or later, and the Gmail app doesn't work with it yet. For agents who drive all day, that's one big gap.

What changed

Siri AI is a new Siri built on Apple Foundation Models developed with Google's Gemini, and it understands personal context across Messages, Mail, Calendar, Notes and Reminders.

It is a beta, in English only for now, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish due next month. You turn it on in Settings and join a waitlist.

It isn't available on iPhone in the EU or with a mainland China account, and it has daily usage limits.

Will it work on my phone?

You need iOS 27 on an iPhone 15 Pro or later, any iPhone 16 model, or the iPhone Air.

A regular iPhone 15 doesn't qualify. If you are due for a new phone anyway, this is the feature that makes the upgrade matter for work.

What it can do for an agent

In David Pogue's tests, the new Siri handled the kinds of requests an agent makes between showings.

Each line below is a test Pogue ran and Siri passed. The agent version is ours, to try on your own phone.

The email examples assume your mail is in Apple Mail; see the Gmail gap below.

The Gmail gap

The Gmail app isn't Siri-compatible yet, so Siri AI can't reach into it the way it reaches Apple Mail.

Third-party apps work once their makers add support for Siri's app actions, and Apple says Outlook is coming soon. An early report, from a developer build, said Siri AI couldn't get into Gmail or WhatsApp.

Apple's launch post now shows it texting in WhatsApp.

What we couldn't confirm: whether a Gmail account added to Apple's Mail app works with Siri AI. If your business runs on Gmail, add the account to Apple Mail and test it with a real question before you rely on it.

What it won't do

Siri AI acts when you ask; nothing we found shows it answering a lead or following up on its own.

In Pogue's test, Siri asked for confirmation before placing a call.
Some app actions failed in Pogue's tests, like calling an Uber and paying with Venmo.
Your conversation history syncs across Apple devices, but a memory that stores facts about your clients isn't described.
No CRM or MLS connection is named.
Daily usage limits apply to Siri AI.

Privacy

Apple runs Siri AI on your iPhone and on Private Cloud Compute, where Apple says personal data is not stored or made accessible to Apple or anyone else.

Many requests run entirely on the phone. If you'd rather keep your requests out of Apple's product improvement, turn off "Improve Siri & Apple Intelligence" under Settings, Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements.

Can Siri AI read my Gmail?

Not through the Gmail app, which isn't Siri-compatible yet. Siri AI works with Apple Mail. We couldn't confirm whether a Gmail account added to Apple Mail works, so test it on your phone.

Which iPhones get Siri AI?
